About the Recipe
If you've ever tasted the creamy, nutty delight of hazelnut spread, you've likely wondered if it’s possible to recreate this delicious treat at home. The good news? You absolutely can! Making your own hazelnut spread is simpler than you might think, and it comes with the added benefits of controlling the ingredients and customizing the flavour to your liking.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to creating your very own homemade hazelnut spread that’s rich, smooth, and perfect for spreading, dipping, or simply eating by the spoonful.
Ingredients
228 g hazelnuts
45 g milk Chocolate Chips
35 g cocoa powder
100 g powdered Sugar
30 g vegetable oil
small pinch of fine salt
Preparation
Step 1
Place the hazelnuts on a baking sheet and roast them in the oven at 175 °C for 8–10 minutes, or until they are toasted, and the skins begin to loosen.
Allow them to cool for one minute.
Use a dish towel to rub off as much of the skin as possible by rubbing the hazelnuts together.
Step 2
Set the hazelnuts aside to cool to room temperature, then place them in a food processor and blend at high speed.
When the mixture is smooth, pasty, and warm, continue processing while adding unmelted chocolate.
Process until the mixture is completely smooth and emulsified with the nut butter.
Step 3
Add the cocoa powder.
Allow it to incorporate.
Add the powdered sugar, followed by the vegetable oil.
Making homemade hazelnut spread is not only rewarding, but also a fun culinary adventure. Plus, the aroma of roasted hazelnuts and chocolate filling your kitchen is a treat in itself. Once you’ve made your own, you might never go back to store-bought again!
Happy spreading! 🌰
