About the Recipe

Carrots, a humble root vegetable, often take a backseat to more glamorous ingredients. But with a little creativity and the right combination of flavours, they can become the star of the table. Enter Asian-Style Honey Glazed Carrots—an irresistible dish that combines sweetness, umami, and a hint of spice, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 500 g sliced carrots

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 4 tbsp honey

  • 2 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 0.5 tsp powdered ginger

  • 0.5 tsp Sriracha

Optional for serving:

  • sliced green onions

  • salt and pepper

Preparation

Step 1

  • Preheat a large frying pan over medium heat and pour in the olive oil.

  • Cut the carrots into slices (either crinkle cut or regular slices are suitable).

  • Place the carrots in the hot pan and coat them with the olive oil.

  • Cover the pan with a lid and allow them to cook for a few minutes, then stir them again.

Step 2

  • In a small bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, garlic powder, ginger, and Sriracha by whisking them together.

  • Drizzle the honey mixture over the carrots and mix them thoroughly in the sauce.

Step 3

  • Reduce the heat to medium-low and continue cooking, stirring occasionally, for approximately 8-10 more minutes until the carrots are just tender enough to be pierced with a fork.

  • Take them off the heat, sprinkle with sliced green onions, and serve.

Tips & Tricks!

  1. Cut consistently: Uniform carrot slices ensure even cooking and a more professional look.

  2. Adjust sweetness: If you prefer a less sweet glaze, reduce the honey slightly and increase the rice vinegar.

  3. Make it a meal: Serve these glazed carrots alongside steamed jasmine rice and grilled chicken or tofu for a complete meal.

Asian-Style Honey Glazed Carrots are a versatile side dish, perfect for weeknight dinners or festive feasts. Their vibrant colour and bold flavours make them a crowd-pleaser, while the recipe’s simplicity ensures you’ll have more time to enjoy your meal.
